Non-contact runout, displacement, speed sensing, and event detection in caustic, abrasive, and high-pressure environments is difficult. Material requirements, integration constraints, and performance requirements often collide with sensor technology specific capabilities. For example, non-homogeneous fluids interfere with capacitive measurements while side loading and skin depth limit the pressure capability and measuring range of inductive systems. Magneto resistive sensors offer a solution to help bridge the gap between robustness, reliability, and precision under these harsh conditions.
